Bromine (hypobromous acid) tablets can also be used as a pool sanitizer. The solid white tablets slowly dissolve to produce free-available bromine, which is also a strong oxidizer. PHMB (polyhexamethylene biguanide) is a pool sanitizer that's used in conjunction with hydrogen peroxide and an algaecide. Hydrogen peroxide is used as an oxidizer.
